under the weather...

hi dear friends... i am in bed with the flu.
i didn't get my shot... i guess i should but sometimes i wonder if they really work.
i have not had the flu in years. i forget how bad it feels...

thank goodness i am on the mend... and thought i would bring a little humor along... a wonderful cartoonist vahan shirvanian...  he did not need words with this amazing illustration... thought it might make you all laugh..

remember to rest well ... we all try to do too much in this season... and sometimes we just need to slow down...

what are your thoughts... flu shot or not?
and what is the best remedy for the super severe body aches?

So sorry you have the flu. Flu shots do not work- they give you the flu as it is part of the vaccine. My daughter is an RN and she will not take the flu shot anymore. Her and her kids would get the flu every time they would get the shot. And there are lots of other reasons not to take it which I won't go into here as my comment would be way too long.

Elderberry juice will actually prevent the flu by keeping the virus from entering your cells. You can take it now to shorten your flu. Also take zinc and vitamin C to shorten your down time and help you feel better.

Stay away from solid food. By giving your digestion system a break, your body will be able to focus on the fight at hand. If you have a blender, throw in raw organic fruits and a kale leaf for a nutritious green smoothie. This will help build up your immune system.

Feel better soon!

Oh no. I'm so sorry. I never had the shot until I had my child. I procrastinate. I just did the nasal mist today. I don't know what works best for the body aches - I wish I could help!

That darn flu! I got one child vaccinated. 1 not. Didn't get around to myself. Looks like crossed fingers and washing hands will be my "flu aversion plan".

Be on the mend!!!

I never get the shot, but i did get the flu 3 years ago over Valentine's week. Bad bad timing for a florist.

I don't know if I could live through another one.

Gatorade for the dehydration. At some point the aches will diminish. Even your hair hurts, right?

Then give yourself one more week to get your strength back.

be very gentle with your body.

When it is all over you will have lost 5 pounds. Silver lining?

The one year I didn't get the flu shot I was so sick. I get the mist(up my nose), sexy, I know. Anyway, it seems to do the trick.
Get well soon. Sending warm hugs and well wishes.

Sorry you are not feeling well. I have never had a flu shot in my life. I wash my hands a lot in my job, so hopefully that will help keep the germs away.
The best remedy... drink plenty of fluids and then crawl in a warm bed and go to sleep for the day. It is what your body needs.

I hope you have a speedy recovery! I got my flu shot last year for the very first time but only b/c of all the swine flu hysteria + I had a baby. But then I also got the swine flu shot and had an adverse reaction to it...tingling sensation in my limbs for weeks after. I bought a mineral detox kit from Whole Foods and I swear it helped. Now I'm scared to ever get a flu shot in fear of French Polio. Although, I guess if you're going to get polio, it better be French. xo

I'm so sorry Pam! I work at a hospital and they give us flu shots every year. One of my co workers just got over the flu even after getting the shot a few months ago. I get one every year just because it's easy and free for me, but my hubby swears against them and he never gets the flu.
Feel better!!
Hugs~

Ugh, I feel for you. I did get a flu shot, as did my whole family. Knock on wood, we're okay. Although, some of still encountered a stomach bug and Hubby had a cold, so we were't completely off the hook. Really, the best thing you can do is get sleep, sleep and more sleep. And, if you can keep fluids down, try to stay hydrated. Listen to me, as if I'm some medical expert...:)

this is not the time of year for you to be feeling poorly! i had the flu in 2006 and still remember it, which is enough to get me in to the doctor for my annual stick of the needle. next year you may feel the same. get well soon!

Please, people! Get it or don't get it - that's your choice - but at least do so for the scientifically correct reasons. The flu shot cannot give you the flu. I repeat, the flu shot cannot give you the flu. Once again, the flu shot cannot give you the flu.

PS Hope you're all better now - the flu is miserable!

Divine Theatre said...

Yes. the flu shot can give you the flu as it contains the flu virus. Just because your beloved government tells you that you cannot does not make it true, my dear. Further, the flu vaccine only protects against former strains of the virus not the newfangled ones.
I posted a very informative link regarding the flu vaccine and its dangers. If you wish to allow chemical toxins into your own body...have at it but please allow those of us who actually research the topic to inform unsuspecting people of the dangers of vaccines without having a fit. Facts are stubborn things, worse than the flu even!
Merry Christmas!
