we made a special gift for a very special woman yesterday.
it was amazing... but of course, it was from jerry traunfeld's book...
"the herbal kitchen"
a pear rosemary upside down cake...
anytime we prepare one of his recipes is always pure heaven.

if you don't own this book, buy immediately.

if you are near seattle, try his restaurant... poppy. one of the best meals you will ever have.

billy

one of my favorite things to do is hit the farmer's market saturday mornings. if i didn't own red ticking, i would be in the food business. sometimes i wish i could do both. the passion is very similar.
my love for these beauties...unreal.

my friend renee, owner of the wonderful boat street cafe in seattle, introduced me to "billy's tomatoes" and now, as most, i am hooked. the tomatoes are unlike any you will ever eat.
we also purchased flats of strawberries and made homemade jam.
fall rocks... and so does billy.

i am such a kid when it comes to certain things.. i guess we all are..
i get butterflies in my stomach every time i approach this store..

i open the big door... and i sigh... i know i am ready for an amazing experience.
the treasure trove that awaits is beyond words. it is one of the most beautifully merchandised stores i have ever had the pleasure to see. and although a bit pricey, i treat myself to my favorite things... always a piece or two of the produce, a fresh treat from the bakery, various cheeses, and never depart without a couple bags of the best coffee... a handfull of jars that may contain mustard, jam or something i have not even heard of before...and even though i have so many, the little tins of herbs or spices... i always pick up another... so take a look and treat yourself... (maybe i should ask for a position in pr?)

i have always loved flags. anything patriotic... even when i had a chance to move to europe years ago..

i thought about all of the things i would miss about america and knew i would yearn to be "home".

so whenever i see something this special, i truly love it. not only because it is charming... but the history behind it, that we are so fortunate to live where we do.

abc kitchen has to be one of the coolest restaurants i have ever had to pleasure to dine in... the wait is 2 months but we had a great gal slide us in... fabulous atmosphere and food was incredible... check it out ..
