tradition..

growing up my grams always had a amaryllis at christmas time.
she would start it from the bulb and we would love to watch it grow... and grow...
she loved it too and when it bloomed we would all be so amazed at the beauty.

since her passing, i buy one every year. i love to watch them grow and bloom...
knowing she is watching with me...

what traditions do you have?

What a great idea...and a special way to remember your grandmother.

I try to cook some of the things that my grandmother used to make at the holidays...though they could never taste as good.

I love that thought Pam & a perfect way to honor and remember your dear grams. I feel a bit lost with tradition anymore. I think moving so much has taken the wind out of my sails. That & not have much family close. Back when my eldest son was young, he & I would get our 'Martha Stewart' on & decorate our 1918 Snohomish home together. He was my decorating buddy. Those were great memories. Sending you much holiday cheer dear Pam. xo xo

Hi Pam,
Thank you so much for visiting Home is Where the Heart is, its a pleasure to meet you!.
Last year My husband, Mom and Dad and I took a trip (we drove) to Victoria Island and on the way back we stayed in Seattle and went sightseeing.I love Seattle the open market was amazing with all the fish..and the flowers were so pretty..
I loved your story about Grams and her amaryllis, there are flowers that also remind me of my Grandma that I have planted in my yard.
I have enjoyed reading your posts and I have become a follower.
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizabeth

Ditto

my Grandmother did the same thing and every year since her death I buy one in her memory

Also Grandma liked flavored egg nog so I drink spiced egg nog and think of her every Christmas.

My Grandmother raised me and she is so dear to my heart.

Such a sweet and beautiful way to have your Grandma with you during the holidays...my "Oma" from Germany always sent us Marzipan and loads of German cookies and candies for the holidays, and Christmas just isn't the same without them. Since she has passed, my mom sends them.

The Ticking shots are all so pretty...love your tree! :)
