i wish someone would come to me and say ... "we own these little cottages (beach or mountain) and we want you to restore/decorate them for us"... i would drop everything... well almost!
years ago, my friends lived in a small cottage in montauk.
"bridgeford cottages" little houses by the sea...they were plain jane but very charming in their own way. we used to sit and dream of buying them and decorating them all differently...
each having their own personality... then opening a bed and breakfast unlike any other... chic and cool... town and country style...
we were in maine recently and saw some darling cottages we were going to stay one evening... took one look inside and wanted to run for the hills... from the outside, potential.. the inside, dreadful.
someday... i will find the perfect location... and turn my dream into reality.
hope you all had a fabulous weekend... xx
How adorable all those cottages are. It would be so much fun to make them all sweet and comfy and a really good mattress is a must...I am new to your blog and I am enjoying it!
I like the sound of your dream. If it had the location like in the 2nd pic .. man-o-man .. I would be there in a flash. Hope it happens for you one day (-:
Hold on to your dream. It is a good one. A friend of mine bought an old motel and turned it into a lake house, cut doors through all the connecting rooms. It was a fun place.
I think you have the perfect dream...keep it!
You never know...
PS..I went kayaking a few summers ago in Massachusetts along the Anisquam with my camera and spent the afternoon taking photos of my favourite places. Right up your alley. I will do a post for you...will let you know when I do :)
These cottages are gorgeous and I would love to have them by the ocean! You would do a fabulous job of decorating.... living by the water would be wonderful! Your dream is perfect!
In Glen Arbor Michigan on the south shore of Little Glen Lake with a view of the Sleeping Bear Dunes, is the cutest collage of little cottages! They need your help. They are adorable but need just to be updated:)...Cathy
Oh! I love resorts with little cottages... for inspiration look at Palmetto Bluff... also Richmond HIll Inn in the NC mountains (near Biltmore house) has croquet cottages that sit on 7 acres of gardes....very cute, but they could use your touch!
these images are so neat! I would love a little cottage on a lake.... one can dream!!! something tells me you will make it happen!
pretty perfection--hope you come this way soon! xxB
Oh, I LOVE the pictre in ur last post! Beautiful! Happy day dear! xoxoxx alice
Pam -- I can see why! How fun would that be? I recall, when I was about 8, my grandparents bought a little cottage on the lake for us all to enjoy. It was white, charming and quaint. I was almost sad when they bulldozed it and built a large house! Bigger is not always better.
Hope you had a lovely weekend as well :)
I share your beach cottage dream. Working on it (slowly)...thanks for stopping by this a.m. I think I may be in danger after visiting both shop sites...well, not really as I'm not generating much income at moment. Still....
What a fun idea to play with, dream of and reach for...I think you'd be booked solid right away too! Love to see what your cottage creation would look like. xo J~
If I had a dream cottage like any of those in your pictures, I'd call you immediately! :-)
We stayed at some cottage/cabins in Fortine MT a few years ago, and they were adorable. If you're ever in that area, look up Bowers Cabins. Super clean with the log cabin theme going on. A really fun place to stay with a gorgeous view of the Canadian Rockies!
I then hope they say to me"you want to come live in one".
LOVE those little cabins!!!
Would there be red ticking or blue?
Sounds like a design dream, a simple lovely one.
Wake me when you are done!
Have you seen the new Better Homes and Gardens Magazine? It has an article on just this idea! Wouldnt that just be the most fun to be able to do that????
Me too. There is this hotel right on the ocean in Ventura, Ca. It wants to be taken back to it's glory days so badly...I dream of all the things I would do for "her."
