a shining light...

i received a phone call from andy newcom today...
he is the owner of the kitchen i posted a couple days ago.
it is such a small world and truly a special one at that... he is as charming and wonderful as his home.. and the fact that he shared in the home renovating adventure with his darling parents, is even better.

he shared he had been in my store red ticking and had purchased items for his home.
he was visiting from kansas city... in seattle on business...
i was not there the day he came in so we never met.

you can see his home and read the story in the new book undecorate...

andy, you are a gem... thanks for making my day.... i love this blog world...
you meet the most incredible people...

It's a small world, after all!
Andy's kitchen is something to dream about.
The "Undecorate" book is all over bookstores,
I can't wait to find the time to leaf through it.

It's a great book! Just got it a few weeks ago...it also has the beach house of the owners of Ochre in NY that was featured in House Beautiful a bit back.

Great story.
I agree- through blogging I have met the nicest people.

For all the horror stories I hear about how technology sometimes connects the wrong people to someone, there is a lot of goodness happening as well! Looks like a great book,too- might have to have it! Happy weekend!

How cool. I loved that kitchen the second I saw it. I've even been thinking about making an oval cutout to duplicate that window. I'd love to see the rest of the room.

I know this may seem weird but I feel compelled to respond to everyone's really kind words. Thank you so much that means a great deal to me.

My mom, dad, and I have worked on several house projects together over the last 30 years. It is our shared passion and joy, to be in each others company, fulfilling our creative vision. It is so rewarding to know that so many others respond in a positive way to pure self-expression.

My mom has Alzheimer's and my dad is her full-time caretaker. This is the last house project that we will work on together. That may seem sad but it isn't. My mom's disease has made me appreciate each brush stroke she has painted and I have marveled at my dad's compassion and love for my mom and myself. My latest house project has given us all something really positive to focus on.

I have a really limited budget and a work crew that are in their 80's, but those obstacles just make the challenge all that more exciting and rewarding.

So once again, thank you for your amazing feedback, I will share your words with my parents.

Find your passion, find your joy, find your voice. The journey is so worth it.
