It's so... old.

And not so chic...

love your observation!

By the way... I do love the table...( didn't want to make the wrong impression!)

When I think of chic I think of something that is elegant as opposed to the term to mean stylish...

Do they really say that?? Silly! The table is beautiful...and the older and 'Frencher' the better!

Hope you've had a fabulous weekend!!! :)

ok I do love that table ... I already have a place for it in my imaginary future house, but I do totally agree "shabby chic" is over used & used in the wrong contexts all the time. so yes I do vote that a new term be coined

I suppose one must recognise the longevity of the 'Shabby Chic' style and how common a term it has become and how pervasive the style has become. I agree that it does not need the term shabby chic accociated with it,in fact I would term it vintage or time worn, or gorgous or droolworthy.... {sigh} myself before I would think SC.

Yes, hate the term, though love the table :)

There is nothing "chic" about being "shabby". Like Memphsis Design let's leave shabbt chic back in the '80's.

Hi Pam,
I don't call that shabby chic. It is distressed and has it's natural patina which comes with age. Shabby Chic is a bit twee, pinky and frilly !! I love that table and wouldn't insult it with the term 'shabby chic' !! XXXX

I really never knew what exactly came under the term "shabby chic". I like vintage myself. 8>)

I agree. Shabby has such a negative connotation and smacks of the last century. Let's move on!

whatever you call it -- it's still pretty!
The towel I did by 'borrowing' your logo and embellishing a little will be zipping your way when the post office opens again tomorrow! Thank you for passing the stylish blogger award my way!!

Whenever I hear the term "shabby chic", I think of some falling apart piece of furniture that someone found at the side of the road and slapped a coat of white paint on! This beautiful table is most assuredly not shabby chic. It's gorgeous!
