white floors

i have always dreamed of having all white floors... when i remodeled my home a few years ago, i wanted the floors bleached. i left town for a minute, came back and of course the guys had proceeded and they were done with light varnish.ugh. i was in a rush to get in the house so i did not rework at the time... big mistake. everytime i see them i think... how i wish i had white floors! the thought of starting over makes me crazy but... this summer... it may happen... thanks to the lovely and talented white and wander for these truly inspiring images... i have stacks on my desk as well... should i do it? what about resale?

I'll only say this out loud once:

"resale be damned"

LIVE in your house. LIVE in it exactly how you want it to be. why wake up every morning and place your feet on a surface that reminds you everyday that you wish it were different.

you can always change it when you sell. lol.

I just LOVE these floors they are gorgeous...I would be painting them the colour YOU love...resale-it is only paint and who said you would even need to repaint them anyway?

I was telling my husband how I'd love to have white-washed hardwood floors. I don't know how much he shares in my enthusiasm, though. :) Nice pictures, I agree that the floors are beautiful.

So funny! I was just "informing" my husband that we should mask our rapidly decaying, soft as butter fir floors by painting them a marine-grade white...and he just looked back at me with a combination vacant-disturbed expression. I think that roughly translates to "no."

I say, go for it! Then show us pictures so we can all lust over them.

If you truly love white floors then just do it.

I'd love white floors too - my problem is that everyone I mention it to goes on and on about how much cleaning I'd have to do. I freely admit that mopping is not my favourite way to spend the day, and I do have 5 young children, but like you, they would make me smile everytime I looked at them...I think! Let us know what you decide to do.

Ah these pictures make me sigh, they are so beautiful. I don't think these floors would be too hard to clean - as long as you did them in more of a chalky wash as opposed to a perfect, shiny white.
I love white floors, but I also adore dark, almost black floors too.
Thanks for visiting me by the way! Have a lovely weekend.

I have white painted floors in my dining room, hallway, and guestroom and they're amazing - go for it!

i used marine grade paint, just off-white, it's shiny and clean and perfect. you won't regret it!

First - I love your blog. Second, I added whte pigment to urathane and painted my kitchen floor. Two coats. That was 5 years ago and I still love it. Area jute rugs break up the whitness but basically, its all white, the ceiling, cupboards, counter top, applances, woodwork and floor. One of the things about this setting that I didn't realize was that pictures taken in the kitchen are just magnificant. the surface has held up, it is easy to vaccum, easy to spot clean and it does look clean. For a kitchen I could not be any more satisfied. Do have a go at it, I'll be you will like the result. Ann
